Unstoppable tokens of gratitude

Rstory is a crypto token that operates on multiple blockchains. Rstory tokens are called tudes. Each one represents an indivisible unit of gratitude. Tudes are intended to be equal to each other regardless of what blockchain they're on. Tudes may be traded like any other token or used as data carriers in decentralized data collection schemes.

Technology

By launching on the existing infrastructure of public blockchains and decentralized exchanges, Rstory aims to externalize much of the technical complexity inherent to any crypto project. The Ethereum network is solid. So is EOS. And Waves. With networks like these to operate on, Rstory is in no hurry to launch its own blockchain. Plans for an app and DeFi projects built on Rstory are in the works.

Distribution

The initial distribution of Rstory will consist of a series of selective gifts. There will be no ICO or airdrop, but there may be opportunities to receive Rstory by contributing to the public good in a way that the project recognizes. It may also become possible to purchase Rstory on decentralized exchanges.

The Rstory team consists only of me. Mark Bailey. I live in Minneapolis and work as a writer. In 2018, a business partner and I decided to create a corporate gratitude token called Rstory on Bitshares and Waves. The token failed. I resigned from the company in 2020. In 2021, I bought Rstory from Insight Green, LLC for the sum of one dollar.

I resurrected Rstory from the corporate trash bin because I believe there's a place in the world for the right kind of gratitude token. If you know me or follow my Hive blog, you know I'm a highly creative and motivated individual. Working under contract for wanttoknow.info for 7 years has given me some insight into the big challenges our society is now facing. And writing articles for the crypto community has shown me how some of these challenges might be overcome with emerging technology.

It's true that I'm not a developer and have never run a successful crypto project before. It's also true that I live with two chronic illnesses. These things may make shepherding Rstory more difficult. But difficulties are part of every worthwhile endeavor.

My Rstory distribution plan is to begin giving away baskets of 1M tudes to people and groups that address important societal issues in meaningful ways. Each giveaway is to be accompanied by media attention showcasing the recipient's public service work. I may also give tudes away arbitrarily and keep some for myself. This distribution of gratitude will probably be uneven.

As for governance, Rstory is governed unilaterally. I would love it if Rstory became popular enough for the question of governance to seriously come up. And I'd be open to surrendering control of Rstory to a fairly governed group if one were to arise and want the job at some point in the future.

Environmental destruction. Unprecedented inequality. Civil unrest. Society today exists at the intersection of these and other crises brought about by the predictable decomposition of unsustainable systems. Big business is capitalizing on this state of affairs. Governments are struggling to keep up. Our power as individuals is limited. But the power of networks is vast.

Imagine a future where Rstory had been given to 100 groups that serve the public good. Some of these groups would likely hold their tokens while others would pass the tokens along to employees, volunteers, or supporters. Now imagine that Rstory had also been given to 1,000 individuals that also serve the public good, whether by sharing their stories or by performing some other activity.

There would be 1,100+ Rstory users in this hypothetical future. 1,100 users may seem small. But this kind of group could easily become the foundation for a much larger network. A network genuinely capable of making the world a better place.

Within a network like this, provisionally called the Rstory Gratitude Network, tokens could be transferred around for various reasons and used to signify reputational strength. In the marketplace of decentralized global exchanges, these tokens could be purchased to support the network financially. Apps built on Rstory could connect the dots between people and solutions to societal problems. And the network as a whole could begin serving the public good in previously unimaginable ways.
